Thomas Tuchel insists Chelsea are ready for ‘two finals’ against Leicester as the club prepare for two huge meetings with the Foxes in four days.
Chelsea face Leicester in the final of the FA Cup at Wembley tomorrow evening, as both sides look to end positive seasons with major silverware success.
The two teams are separated by just two points in the Premier League table at present and meet again in the league in midweek, a fixture neither side can afford to drop points in after Liverpool closed the gap on the Champions League places with a win at Manchester United on Thursday.
Tuchel says his side are fully focused on their two meetings with Leicester despite an upcoming Champions League final later this month, the German confident Chelsea are ‘ready’ ahead of two ‘tough and complicated’ clashes against Brendan Rodgers’ side.
“I cannot judge it. These are two finals and we don’t think about anything else,” he told his pre-match press conference.
“We missed the chance against Arsenal to get a decisive advantage. We have to cope with it and first of all show a reaction in Wembley to have the upper hand on Tuesday.
“It’s a bit curious we play two finals against the same team. It will be very tough and complicated, but we feel ready for it. It’s the moment to step up and enjoy on the highest level. By enjoying we mean hard work, suffer, and help each other out on the pitch.
Chelsea head into tomorrow’s cup final on the back of a disappointing home defeat to Arsenal, the 1-0 loss at Stamford Bridge seeing the west Londoners miss the change to strengthen their position in the top four.
Tuchel admits the ‘hangover’ from that defeat has meant he has not yet soaked up the FA Cup final build-up, but is hopeful his side will ‘show a reaction’ against the Foxes at Wembley.
“I am not yet in the mode to enjoy it,” added Tuchel.
“I still have a bit of a hangover from the last defeat. It’s always like this. I am a bit more in angry mode, not at myself or the players, just because of the opportunity we missed.
“When we arrive at the hotel I will hopefully transform it into a good preparation and push the team to the edge so they play sharp. This is my responsibility.
“We have to show a reaction. It’s a big match, an FA Cup final, my first final here in England. It’s huge, but I will never get carried away with the emotions tomorrow. I am fully focused to prepare my team better than we did two days ago.”
