Tottenham are understood to be keen on signing Anthony Martial or Gabriel Jesus in part-exchange after reports that Harry Kane has requested to leave the club this summer.
Kane has reportedly informed the north London side of his desire for a move away at the end of the season, the England captain keen to win the major silverware that has eluded him in his career to date with Spurs also set to miss out on Champions League qualification.
Sky Sports broke the news of Kane’s request on Monday evening and have reported that Premier League rivals Manchester United, Manchester City and Chelsea have made contact with the player’s representatives over a potential deal.
Spurs are in a strong position with the 27-year-old still having three years remaining on his contract and will demand a huge fee for a forward who is the Premier League‘s joint-leading scorer on 22 goals this season.
Kane’s preference is believed to be remaining in the Premier League and the forward ideally wants his future sorted before this summer’s European Championship, where he will captain England at a second major tournament.
The Mail are reporting that whilst Spurs are reluctant to sell their leading name, the club have been planning for his departure for ‘weeks’ and have lined up Gabriel Jesus and Anthony Martial as potential makeweights.
Martial has struggled at Manchester United this season and could be open to a departure should Kane move to Old Trafford, the Red Devils having already agreed a one-year contract extension with Edinson Cavani.
The 25-year-old finished as the club’s leading scorer with 23 goals in all competitions in 2019/20 but has struggled to replicate those performances this season in a campaign blighted by injury and inconsistency.
Gabriel Jesus could be another player to move on should Kane instead sign for Manchester City, the Brazilian having failed to command a regular place in the side this season despite the lack of alternative options at centre-forward.
Pep Guardiola has often chosen to utilise a false nine in perhaps what is an indication of his lack of faith in the 24-year-old as a long-term striking option and Spurs would be open to signing a player who has scored 81 goals in 192 appearances at the Etihad, many of those as a substitute.
