Pablo Aimar and David Villa are two of the most revered names in Valencia’s modern history, the attacking stars having left a huge impression during successful spells at the Mestalla.
Valencia are one of Spain’s proudest football clubs and have been the home to some great talents throughout the years, the six-time La Liga champions having enjoyed some of their greatest successes since the turn of the century.
Aimar was the twinkle-toed Argentine playmaker who shone for the side during the early 2000s, the creative hub of Rafael Benitez’s title-winning teams in 2002 and 2004, their latter success coming alongside a UEFA Cup triumph.
Villa was signed from divisional rivals Real Zaragoza and enjoyed a prolific period with Los Che, netting 129 goals across just 225 appearances before finding silverware success at Barcelona and Real Madrid.
Villa also spearheaded Spain’s golden generation of talent to long-awaited international success, winning three consecutive major tournaments with La Roja and scoring a record-breaking 59 goals for the side.
