Paris Saint-Germain are set to ‘accelerate’ their interest in Paul Pogba as the club look to secure a deal for the Manchester United midfielder.

Pogba has entered the final year of his deal with the Red Devils and has shown few signs that he is willing to sign an extension, with PSG preparing to capitalise on the 28-year-old’s situation and bring the star back to his native Paris.

The Ligue 1 side have enjoyed a fruitful transfer window to date with marquee arrivals including Achraf Hakimi, Gini Wijnaldum, Sergio Ramos and Gianluigi Donnarumma at the Parc des Princes, and RMC Sport are reporting that the Parisians are now ready to ‘accelerate’ their pursuit of Pogba.

No official offer has yet been submitted for the France international, though negotiations are expected to begin ‘quickly’ with PSG keen to secure a deal before the end of the summer transfer window.

Recent reports have suggested a fee in the region of €50m (£43m) could be enough to agree a deal, with United running the risk of losing Pogba on a free transfer next summer.

The French side are however likely to need to make sales before being able to finalise a deal for the World Cup winner, the report suggesting Rafinha or former United midfielder Ander Herrera could be moved on.

Pogba’s exit would be a major blow to Ole Gunnar Solskjaer who is keen for the player to sign a new deal, though could free up funds for further recruitment following the exciting signing of Jadon Sancho and the impending arrival of Raphael Varane from Real Madrid.

United are keen to add another central midfielder and have been linked with Saul Niguez and Leon Goretzka in recent weeks, whilst the Red Devils also retain an interest in Atletico Madrid full-back Kieran Trippier.
