Edgar Davids’ six seasons with Juventus saw the midfielder become one of Europe’s most notorious competitors, a player who relished going toe-to-toe with the finest the continent had to offer.
Davids was part of a talented Ajax side that were crowned Champions League winners in 1995, before a disappointing spell at AC Milan was followed by a switch to Turin.
The move invigorated the Netherlands international who became a key component of a Bianconeri side that won three league titles across the turn of the millennium, the combative Davids proving the perfect foil for teammates including Zinedine Zidane and Didier Deschamps.
Davids’ tenacity and tireless style saw him nicknamed ‘The Pitbull’ in the Juventus engine room, but there was much more to his game than simply channelled aggression as this stunning strike against Bologna proves.
Here is Edgar Davids’ thunderbastard of a strike for Juventus against Bologna.
